  1. Violate law — activities illegal in your or affected parties’ jurisdictions
  2. Spam — send unsolicited commercial messages; violate CAN-SPAM, CASL, GDPR consent requirements
  3. Deceive — send messages with false headers, misleading subject lines, forged sender identity
  4. Harass or harm — threats, hate speech, abuse, harassment of any person
  5. Scrape or harvest — collect personal information without consent
  6. Interfere with the Service — DDoS, exploit vulnerabilities, reverse engineer
  7. Circumvent limits — create multiple accounts to evade plan limits; share credentials
  8. Violate IP rights — infringe copyright, trademark, patent, or trade secrets

2. Communication standards

When using AppThrive to contact merchants:

  • Consent required — only contact merchants who have granted appropriate consent
  • Honor unsubscribe — respect opt-outs within 10 business days (CAN-SPAM) / immediately (GDPR)
  • Truthful identification — use verified sender domains; don’t spoof
  • Relevant content — content must relate to the app relationship
  • Frequency discipline — don’t abuse frequency caps or quiet hours overrides

3. Enforcement

Violations may result in:

  1. Warning (first offense, minor)
  2. Feature restriction (specific feature disabled pending resolution)
  3. Suspension (read-only mode, sending paused)
  4. Termination (serious / repeated violations)
  5. Legal action (for illegal activity)

Automated enforcement triggers:

  • Spam complaint rate > 0.1% → auto-pause sending
  • Bounce rate > 5% → auto-pause sending
  • Sustained abuse of plan limits on free tier → throttle or suspend
